Say hello to the hospital spec Lento chair!

Following the successful release of our own care chair last year, our team decided to go back to the drawing board to make it more hospital-friendly. And we’re now very happy to announce that we’re launching the new Lento Hospital Spec Chair!

We designed the original Lento care chair from scratch, using our team’s unrivalled knowledge of care equipment to create one of the most flexible models on the market. We have now redeveloped a new model of the Lento to meet infection control standards in hospitals all over the UK.

Padraig, our band 6 physiotherapist, said:

“When we first launched the Lento, it was great because of how flexible it is. It can suit about 80% of the populations’ needs — but it needed some redevelopment to be better-suited to hospitals.

“The Lento has built-in adjustable seat width, height, and depth to make it as easy as possible for carers and nurses to adapt one single chair to many different patients’ needs.”

Our seating assessors worked closely with NHS hospitals to make sure that every part of the Lento Hospital Spec Chair was thought of in the design process. The chair had to be completely re-thought to make sure that fabrics would not provide any surfaces for bacteria to harbour and grow.

To keep in line with rigorous hospital infection control standards, the Lento Hospital Spec Chair now has no Velcro at all. Instead, the cushions are attached to the chair using innovative magnets to completely minimise the chances of cross-infection between patients.

The footrest cushion cover also now features a zip cover and has no other Velcro attachments.

The Lento Hospital Spec Chair has been redeveloped from the original model to have fewer materials and surfaces that may promote cross-contamination between patients in hospitals.

Our managing director, Tristan, said:

“It’s been a great year for us following the launch of the Lento and loads of people have been impressed. It just seemed like a natural progression for us to redesign it specifically for hospitals.

“Obviously hospitals have lots of protocols in place to keep the risk of cross-infection to an absolute minimum, and we’ve worked to those standards to make sure that the Lento can provide hospital patients with the same flexibility and support.”

To keep up with the demand for the Lento chair, we’ve decided to keep ready-made chairs in stock for faster supply and delivery to whoever needs it. Because the Lento is so flexible, it can be adjusted to suit about 80% of the population’s needs.

Typically, it takes four to six weeks for made-to-measure care chairs to be manufactured. With the Lento being readily available to clients with practically no wait time, this makes it much easier to find specialist seating that suits your needs in no time at all.

Coupled with this, Vivid Care has now invested in a new hire fleet of Lento chairs to give another option for clients and care institutions. They already have hire Lentos in use in a number of NHS hospital wards, and the feedback from the ward staff has been fantastic.
